Guided Lake Fishing

Lake Fishing

There is nothing better than spending time on the lake and fishing all day. Bear Tracks Travel Center is fortunate to be able to make that happen for our customers. Our guide service to several local area lakes offers the fishermen a variety of fishing situations. They will teach how to catch large and small mouth bass, walleye, perch or catfish. The guides will explain lure presentation, bait choice, boat position and fish knowledge. It all adds up to a fun and exciting day on the lake. Call, E-Mail, or come by and make a reservation today.

OUR GUIDES:

My name is Dave Whisman. I am a local lake fishing guide for Bear Tracks Adventures. For over forty years I have fished the waters that are nestled in our beautiful mountains that I call home. Mainly, we offer trips to lakes within 45 minutes of our location. Lake Glenville (Thorpe Reservoir), Wolf Creek Lake and Bear Creek Lake as well as Lakes Keowee and Jocassee in SC.  All are pristine, crystal clear and are excellent fisheries. Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Trout, Walleye, Crappie and Bluegill are available in most of these lakes.

As for my qualifications, I have been involved in the sport fishing industry since the mid 1980's. I was a founding director and NC State Director of Smallmouth, Inc, a 501C nonprofit foundation and served as tournament director, magazine editor and contributing author. I served on the National Board of Directors for Smallmouth, Inc, Smallmouth Magazine and The Black Bass Foundation. I have spent thousands of days fishing the waters of Western North Carolina and have been a full service guide for the past seven years. I have much more fun watching someone else catch the fish of a lifetime and I do my best to make sure that happens.  It will be a learning experience and fun for all, myself included.

Stacy Adcock

My name is Stacy Adcock and I am a local guide for Bear Tracks Adventures. I've had the joy for over 25 years to fish these beautiful waters. These crystal clear, deep, cool lakes here in WNC are absolutely breathtaking. The fish are fat and sassy not to mention gorgeous because of the water quality that we have. The whole experience of catching fish and making memories with friends and family is what we are all about. We will be fishing out of a tournament rigged 18 foot Ranger boat with a Yamaha VMAX 150. We have both Lownance and Garmin Electronics to help us find the big ones.

With 25 years local knowledge of these lakes, along with many days of tournament fishing under my belt, I will assure you that we will have a great time on the water. I highly recommend that you bring a camera because the waters we fish are not only breathtaking, but could very well give you the fishing memories of a lifetime. Feel free to take a look at some of our photos and see for yourself. We are here to teach you how to catch these fish because we believe in the saying... "give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime".

FULL DAY:
A full day trip is the best fishing experience Bear Tracks offers. A full day will start very early. We can meet at Bear Tracks or the lake, whichever you prefer. I recommend being on the water at daylight. There is no substitute for the early morning bite! We will fish until around noon, then find a calm place to beach the boat and prepare a shore lunch. After an hour or so of rest and a nice lunch, we will fish the rest of the 8 hour day. If the fish are really biting and you wish to stay, I'm sure we can work something out because our guide loves it more than you do. If it's really hot in the summer heat, we might find a cool place to take a dip and just cool off.

HALF DAY:
A half day trip is a great way to get in just enough time on the water and still be able to enjoy the rest of the day. A half day trip starts off early just like the full day. We will cast and blast hard because we only have a half day to get it done. Anytime on the water with Bear Tracks is time well spent! We will do all we can to accomodate you and make the trip be a fun, rewarding, and memorable experience.
